ELNET UK Interview Series: Shai Davidai (Columbia University), Raising Awareness about Antisemitism – interview with Eli Hassell

In the first in a series of deep-dive interviews on issues arising from the Israel-Hamas conflict we look at the story of campus antisemitism through the lens of Israeli Assistant Professor at Columbia, Shai Davidai.

Shai experienced, first hand, his campus being infiltrated by outside agitators protesting the conflict and turning the campus into a hotbed of dangerous antisemitism. He has found himself under investigation by Columbia University for counter protests and social media posts regarding the ‘pro-Palestinian’ encampments; while some of his university colleagues supporting Hamas and the 7 October attacks have not been investigated or disciplined.

Shai has suggested that pro-terror, antisemitic organisers and leaders on campuses should be expelled; he advocates for faculties to be held accountable for hate speech.
