Explainer: The Houthis

Our briefing gives a short history of the Houthis alongside information regarding their stated aims and relationship with Iran. Officially known as Ansar Allah (Partisans of God), the Houthis are a Yemen-based, Shiite military and political movement. Part of Iran’s “Axis of Resistance”, which includes Hamas and Hezbollah, their slogan is: “God is great! Death to America! Death to Israel! Curse upon the Jews! Victory to Islam!”
